Project Description:

The overall objective of this project is to contribute to stronger EU-GCC relations by supporting the GCC countries' ongoing process of economic diversification away from hydrocarbon dependent sectors.
 
The purpose of this project is to promote climate-friendly trade, investment and economic affairs related policy analysis, dialogue and cooperation between stakeholders from EU and GCC at both regional and country levels in the context of the GCC economic diversification process.
 
It will cover three result areas
 
·Cooperation and dialogue between EU and GCC countries strengthened in the areas of Trade, Investment and Economic Affairs
·Policy analysis related to EU-GCC Trade, Investment and Economic Affairs strengthened
·Flow of information between EU and GCC stakeholders enhanced in the field of, Trade, Investment and Economic Affairs
 
The project covers the EU and Countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC): Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The indicative start date of project implementation is April 2018 with a project duration of 36 months. The operational base for the project will be one of the GCC countries.
 
Activities can also take place in the EU. As such, frequent travel within the region and travel to EU is required. The key experts are expected to participate in regular and adhoc meetings and briefings/ debriefing sessions with the Contracting Authority in Brussels and with EU Delegations in GCC as relevant.


Job Description:

Key Expert 2 will be responsible for directly implementing some of the activities related to trade and foreign direct investment.
 
Key Expert 2 will work at least 80% of her/his time in GCC countries. She/he is expected to travel extensively (at least 50% of her/his time) within the region and to the EU as relevant.


Qualifications:

Qualifications and skills
•Bachelor's degree or equivalent diploma in economics, business and/or international trade.
 
General professional experience
•Minimum 5 years of post-graduate professional experience in the area of international trade, foreign direct investment and/or business internationalisation (including in functions involving policy analysis and recommendations).
 
Specific professional experience
•At least 5 years of post-graduate experience in managing international projects.
•Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate professional experience in the GCC countries.
•Post-graduate professional experience working on issues related to economic diversification and/or reforms in one of the GCC countries is an advantage.
•Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
